QR Code Scanner Online
Scan a QR code online with your phone or laptop camera and see exactly what it contains before you act on it. The scanner reads standard QR codes, Micro QR and rMQR, shows the full address of every link, and never opens anything by itself. The video stays in your browser.

Your browser asks for permission. The video stays on this device.
Type or paste a code
Type the digits or text in the field below and press Enter. Product numbers are checked like a scanned code.
Waiting for the scanner
Paste the codes you expect, then scan.
Result
The code you scan appears here with what it means.
Session
No scans yet
Codes you scan are listed here, newest first.
Earlier sessions saved in this browser, newest first. New session moves the current one here.
The camera reads the same code again only after it has been out of view this long, so a code held in front of it counts once. In Count mode each new read adds one.
How to Scan a QR Code Online
Start the camera, hold the QR code in the frame and read the result before you open anything.
- Press Start camera and allow access when your browser asks.
- Hold the QR code in the frame until it beeps; on a phone the video pauses on the result.
- Read the result. A link shows its full address, and the Open button names the website it leads to; on a phone, press Scan next for another code.
- Copy the content, open the link, or scan the next code.
QR Code Types It Reads
This page reads the three members of the QR family and ignores other barcode types.
QR Code Formats
- QR Code: the square code on posters, menus, packaging and screens, including GS1 QR codes.
- Micro QR Code: a smaller QR code with one finder pattern.
- rMQR Code: the rectangular Micro QR code for long, narrow spaces.
What a QR Code Can Contain
- Web addresses: shown in full with an Open button for http and https links.
- Wi-Fi details: the network name, security and password shown as named fields, to copy into your settings.
- Contact cards and plain text: contact, event, email, phone, SMS, WhatsApp and location codes with their fields named; plain text as it is.
Scan a QR Code on a Computer
On a laptop or desktop, scan with the webcam or read a QR code that is on your screen from a screenshot.
With a Webcam
Press Start camera and hold the QR code up to the webcam, a little further away than you would hold it from a phone. If you have more than one camera, choose one in the Camera menu.
From a Screenshot
To scan a QR code shown on your own screen, take a screenshot and paste it on this page with Ctrl+V, or Command+V on a Mac. The QR code reader also reads saved images, several at once.
Scan a QR Code on iPhone or Android
Phone cameras already scan QR codes, but this page shows the whole content first and keeps a list of every code you scan.
iPhone and iPad
Open this page in Safari, press Start camera and allow the camera. The full link appears in the list before anything opens, which helps when a code on a poster or parking meter looks suspicious.
Android
Open the page in Chrome or another browser and allow the camera. Where the phone offers it, a Torch button helps with codes in dark places.
Is It Safe to Scan a QR Code?
Scanning is safe on its own; the risk is opening a link you have not checked, so this scanner always shows the address first.
Check the Link Before Opening It
Look at the host name on the Open button and make sure it is the website you expect. The FTC warns that scammers cover the QR codes on parking meters with their own, which lead to fake sites that take money or personal information.
What This Scanner Never Does
It never opens a link, downloads a file or joins a Wi-Fi network by itself, and it never sends the video or the results to a server. Only http and https links get an Open button.
Frequently Asked Questions
How Do I Scan a QR Code From a Screenshot?
Copy the screenshot and paste it on this page with Ctrl+V, or Command+V on a Mac, or choose the saved image under Upload image. The QR code reader does the same for many images at once.
Can I Scan a QR Code on My Laptop Without a Phone?
Yes. Hold the code up to the laptop's webcam after pressing Start camera, or paste a screenshot if the code is on your screen.
Why Won't My QR Code Scan?
Move the code until it fills most of the frame and is in focus, and avoid glare. A QR code needs its white border to scan, and a very dense code printed small may need a closer, sharper view.
Does the QR Scanner Connect to Wi-Fi Codes?
It reads Wi-Fi QR codes and shows the network name, security and password as named fields, but it does not join the network. Copy the details into your Wi-Fi settings.
Does It Read Barcodes Too?
This page reads QR codes only. Use the barcode scanner for UPC, EAN, Code 128, Data Matrix and other types.
Is the QR Code Scanner Free?
Yes. There is no account, no limit and no app to install. The scanning runs in your browser.
