FNSKU Barcode Generator for Amazon FBA Labels

Read the FNSKU barcode on the label Amazon gave you, from its PDF, a photo or the camera, and print it again on labels that follow Amazon's FBA rules: 1 × 2 to 2 × 3 inches, white space around the barcode, the product name and the condition. Amazon does not name the symbology, so the page copies yours.

1. Your Amazon label

2. Label text

A name longer than the label is cut with three dots, as on the label PDF.

3. Label size

Label

Read your label or type the FNSKU: the label appears here at four times its size, with Amazon's white space dashed.

  • Label between 1 × 2 in and 2 × 3 in: not checked yet
  • White space: 0.25 in on the sides, 0.125 in top and bottom: not checked yet
  • FNSKU, product name and item condition on the label: not checked yet
  • Black on white: not checked yet
  • The drawn barcode reads back to the same code: not checked yet

Print at 100% (scaling None) on a thermal or laser printer of 300 dpi or more: Amazon says not to use inkjet printers. Scan one printed label before you print the rest.

Rules from Amazon Seller Central (United States), Use Amazon barcodes for FBA, checked October 9, 2026. Amazon changes its rules; check the page before a large print run. Barcode.codes is not affiliated with Amazon.

A label PDF is opened on your device with pdf.js (Mozilla), under the Apache License 2.0; it loads only when you choose a PDF, and the file is not uploaded.

How to Print FNSKU Labels From Your Amazon Label

Read the code from your own Seller Central label, add the name and condition, choose the label size and print one test label first.

  1. Download the label PDF of your product from Seller Central, or photograph a printed label.
  2. Choose the PDF or the picture above, or scan the label with the camera; the page shows the symbology and the code it read, and asks which one when the PDF holds several.
  3. Enter the product name and the condition as your Seller Central label shows them, and choose the label size.
  4. Download the PDF, print one label at 100% scale, and scan it next to your Seller Central label before you print the rest.

Seller Central prints FNSKU labels itself, from the Label products page or from Manage Inventory, as a PDF for laser printers or for a thermal printer. Use this page when you need the same label on another sheet or printer, or more copies.

What the Page Reads and Prints

The page reads a picture of your Amazon label or the camera, and prints in three layouts Amazon accepts.

What It Reads

  • The label PDF: from Seller Central, read page by page in your browser; a password-protected PDF cannot be read.
  • A screenshot: of one label, pasted or chosen as a file.
  • A photo: of a printed label, sharp and close.
  • The camera: of a phone or a laptop, pointed at a printed label.
  • Typed: only with the symbology you choose, and a check against your own label.

Label Layouts

  • 30 per US Letter sheet: 1 × 2⅝ in, a size on Amazon's list, laid out on Avery 5160's template.
  • 21 per A4 sheet: 63.5 × 38.1 mm, a size on Amazon's list, laid out on Avery L7160's template.
  • One label per page: for a thermal printer, any size from 1 × 2 to 2 × 3 in.

Who Needs FNSKU Labels Since March 31, 2026

Amazon changed its FBA barcode rules on March 31, 2026: brand owners can keep using manufacturer barcodes without stickers, and resellers must use Amazon barcodes even when the product has a manufacturer barcode.

  • Every item: sent to an Amazon fulfillment center needs a barcode for tracking.
  • No barcode: Amazon marks the item as defective, applies a barcode sticker itself and reports it on the Inbound Performance Dashboard.
  • Not following the prep rules: can lead to refused inventory, disposal or return, blocked shipments or fees, Amazon says.

These rules are from Amazon Seller Central for the United States marketplace, checked October 9, 2026. Other marketplaces have their own pages, and Amazon changes its rules, so check the page before a large print run.

Amazon FNSKU Label Requirements

Amazon asks for printed labels that match the format of the label Seller Central generates, with white space, the code, the product name and the condition.

FNSKU Label Size

Amazon accepts labels from 1 × 2 inches to 2 × 3 inches, such as 1 × 3 or 2 × 2 inches, and lists the laser sheets its own tools print on.

  • US Letter: 30 labels per page, 1 × 2⅝ in.
  • A4, 21 per page: 63.5 × 38.1 mm.
  • A4, 24 per page: 63.5 × 33.9, 63.5 × 38.1, 64.6 × 33.8, 66.0 × 33.9, 70.0 × 36.0 or 70.0 × 37.0 mm.
  • A4, 27, 40 or 44 per page: 63.5 × 29.6, 52.5 × 29.7 or 48.5 × 25.4 mm.

This page lays out the first two, which match sheets with a published template on this site. For the other sheets, print Seller Central's own PDF, with printer scaling set to None or 100% as Amazon says.

Where to Put the FNSKU Label on a Product

Put the right label on each item, flat, with every other visible barcode covered, at least 0.25 inch from the edge of the packaging.

  • Cover other barcodes: except serial number barcodes and Transparency authentication labels.
  • Flat surface: not on a curve or a corner of the package.
  • After prep: the barcode must still scan through poly bags or other prep materials.
  • Case packs: each item gets its own label, and barcodes on the case are removed.

Common FNSKU Label Problems

Amazon's Shipping Queue reports missing barcodes, mislabeled units, barcodes that cannot be scanned and prep errors; the print itself causes most of them.

  • Barcode cannot be scanned: smudged, on a corner or curve, or on a reflective surface; print on matte labels with a thermal or laser printer.
  • Unit mislabeled: the barcode does not match the item; read your own label rather than typing, and label one product at a time.
  • Scaled print: a PDF printed with "Fit to page" changes the label size; set scaling to None or 100%.

Barcode test checks a photo of a printed barcode for quiet zones, contrast and module size before a print run.

Frequently Asked Questions

What Is an FNSKU Barcode?

It is the barcode of an Amazon label that Fulfillment by Amazon uses to track an item. Seller Central prints it from the Label products page or Manage Inventory, and Shopify's help notes that each FNSKU begins with X or B.

What Size Is an FNSKU Label?

Amazon's page asks for labels between 1 × 2 inches and 2 × 3 inches, such as 1 × 3 or 2 × 2 inches. Its own tools print 30 labels of 1 × 2⅝ inches on US Letter and several A4 sheets.

What Barcode Type Is an FNSKU?

Amazon's label page does not name the symbology. This page reads it from your own Seller Central label and draws the same one, so the copy matches what Amazon printed.

Can I Print FNSKU Labels on an Inkjet Printer?

No: Amazon says not to use inkjet printers. Use a thermal printer or a laser printer of 300 dpi or more, and black ink on white, non-reflective labels.

Do I Need FNSKU Labels If My Product Has a UPC?

Since March 31, 2026, brand owners can use manufacturer barcodes without stickers, but resellers must use Amazon barcodes even when a product has one. Amazon's page links to its FAQ on this change.

What Happens If an Item Arrives Without an FNSKU Label?

Amazon marks it as defective, puts a barcode sticker on it and reports it on your Inbound Performance Dashboard. Not following the prep rules can also lead to fees or refused inventory.
