Barcode Label Generator: Print Barcode Labels on Sheets
Print barcode labels on sheets of sticky labels, free. Paste your values, open a CSV or Excel file or number them, choose the barcode, enter your label sheet's sizes, and download a PDF with every barcode drawn as vectors at its true size. A calibration page checks your printer first, and nothing is uploaded.
The first barcode appears here.
Print simulation
Shows how a worn print of the first barcode looks and tests it with the decoder.

Before you print
A PDF test sheet with the first barcode at 80%, 100% and 150% and rulers. Print it at actual size and scan each copy.
Up to 5,000 labels in one PDF (about 209 sheets of 24).
Everything runs in your browser; nothing you paste or open is uploaded.
How to Print Barcode Labels
Enter the values and your sheet's sizes, check the preview, print the calibration page, then print the labels at 100%.
- Paste one value per line, with up to two caption lines after a tab, open a CSV or Excel file, or build a numbered sequence.
- Choose the barcode type, the module width and the bar height.
- Enter the paper, the number of columns and rows, the label size, the margins and the pitch from your label sheet's template.
- Print the calibration page on plain paper at 100% and hold it over a label sheet to check that every outline covers a label.
- Download the labels PDF and print it at 100% (Actual size) on the label sheet.
Label Sheet Settings
A label sheet is described by its paper, its grid of labels, the label size, and where the first label starts and how far apart the labels are.
Paper, Grid and Pitch
- Paper: US Letter (8.5 × 11 in) or A4 (210 × 297 mm).
- Columns and rows: how many labels across and down.
- Label width and height: the size of one label, in millimeters or inches.
- Top and left margin: from the edge of the paper to the first label.
- Horizontal and vertical pitch: from the left edge of one label to the left edge of the next, and from top to top, gaps included.
Values, Captions and Copies
Each line is one label. The second and third columns become two caption lines, placed above or below the barcode; a line too wide for the label is shortened with three dots. Copies of each repeats every label, such as 3 labels for each bin.
Starting on a Used Sheet
Start at label sets the first free label, counted in the fill order (across, row by row, or down, column by column), so a part-used sheet is not wasted. Shift right and Shift down move everything by a few tenths of a millimeter when a printer prints slightly off center.
Barcode Label Size
A label must hold the whole barcode with its quiet zones, plus 1.5 mm on every side, and the caption lines above it.
The generator keeps each barcode at the module width and bar height you choose and never shrinks it to fit, because a smaller barcode can fall below what scanners read and lose its quiet zones. When a value does not fit, the page names the line and says how much room it needs. Then use a smaller module width, a lower bar height, a shorter value or larger labels.
Print Barcode Labels at Actual Size
Labels line up only when the PDF is printed at 100%: Fit to page or Shrink oversized pages scales the page, and every label moves.
- Download the calibration page for your sheet settings.
- Print it on plain paper with scaling at 100% or Actual size.
- Measure the rulers: they must be exactly 100 mm and 4 inches long.
- Hold the page over a label sheet against a window; if the outlines sit off the labels, set Shift right or Shift down and print it again.
Barcode Types, Colors and Checks on Labels
Every barcode type of the generator can go on labels, with the same text, color and QR code options, and the first label is checked before you print.
- Types: one type for every label, or each row's own type from a column, such as EAN-13, Code 128 or QR Code.
- Text under the bars: OCR-B or Sans, with its size and alignment; EAN and UPC keep their standard digits.
- Colors and QR design: bar and background colors, refused when the contrast is too low, and one logo, shape and frame for every QR code.
- Checks: the first barcode is read back by a decoder, a print simulation shows a worn print, and every label can be read back while the PDF is made.
Label Sheet Templates
The Label sheet menu has the sizes of six common Avery sheets, measured from Avery's own downloadable templates; for any other sheet, choose Custom and enter the sizes from its template.
- US Letter: Avery 5160 size (1 × 2-5/8 in, 30 per sheet), 5167 size (1/2 × 1-3/4 in, 80 per sheet) and 5163 size (2 × 4 in, 10 per sheet).
- A4: Avery L7160 size (63.5 × 38.1 mm, 21 per sheet), L7163 size (99.1 × 38.1 mm, 14 per sheet) and L7651 size (38.1 × 21.2 mm, 65 per sheet).
Label makers change their sheets from time to time, so print the calibration page on plain paper and hold it over your sheet before you print the labels. Barcode.codes is not affiliated with Avery or any other label maker.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I Print Barcode Labels on Avery Sheets?
Yes. Choose the Avery size in the Label sheet menu (5160, 5167, 5163, L7160, L7163 or L7651), or Custom with the sizes from the Avery template for your product number. Print the calibration page on plain paper to check them, then print the labels at 100%.
Why Do My Labels Not Line Up?
Usually because the PDF was scaled when printed: choose 100% or Actual size, not Fit to page. If they are still a little off, measure how far and set Shift right or Shift down.
Can I Use a Thermal Label Printer?
No. The PDF uses US Letter or A4 pages for sheets of labels in office printers; thermal printers that print one label at a time need a page the size of the label, which this generator does not make.
Is the Barcode Label Generator Free?
Yes, with no account and no watermark, up to 5,000 labels per PDF. The PDF is made in your browser.
Why Is My Barcode Not Shrunk to Fit the Label?
Shrinking a barcode makes its bars thinner than the size you chose and can cut into its quiet zones, so scanners may fail to read it. The generator tells you what does not fit instead, so you can choose a size that works.
Can I Number My Labels in Order?
Yes. Open the Sequence tab and set the prefix, the start, how many and the digits; the labels fill with values such as BIN-0001 to BIN-0048, in the fill order you choose.
