Micro QR Code Generator
Make a Micro QR code online for free. Type short data, up to 35 digits or 21 capital letters and digits, and the generator picks the smallest version from M1 to M4, or uses the one you set. Choose error correction L, M or Q, and download SVG, PNG, PDF or EPS.

How to Generate a Micro QR Code
Type short data, choose the version and error correction if you need to, and download the file.
- Type the data: digits fit best, then capital letters and digits.
- Keep Smallest that fits, or choose M1 to M4.
- Choose error correction L, M or Q; Q needs version M4.
- Download SVG, PNG, PDF or EPS and scan a test print with the scanner you will use.
Micro QR Versions M1 to M4
Micro QR has four versions, from 11 × 11 to 17 × 17 modules, and each one limits the data it can hold.
Sizes and Data
M1: 11 × 11 modules; digits only, with error correction L.

M2: 13 × 13 modules; digits, capital letters, space and $ % * + - . / :.

M3: 15 × 15 modules; any data.

M4: 17 × 17 modules; any data, up to 35 digits or 21 capital letters and digits.

Error Correction Levels
- L: low, available in every version.
- M: medium, from M2.
- Q: quartile, only in M4.
Micro QR Code Specifications
These are the rules of Micro QR Code as described in the encoder's reference, which cites ISO/IEC 18004.
| Property | Micro QR Code |
|---|---|
| Digits | Up to 35 digits (M4, error correction L) |
| Characters | M1: digits only; M2: digits, capital letters, space and $ % * + - . / :; M3 and M4: any data |
| Check digit | No check digit: error correction L (all versions), M (M2 to M4) or Q (M4 only) |
| Sizes | M1 11 × 11, M2 13 × 13, M3 15 × 15 and M4 17 × 17 modules |
| Variants | QR Code, the larger and more common relative, and Rectangular Micro QR Code (rMQR) for narrow, elongated spaces |
| Version choice | With no version set, the encoder picks the smallest version that holds the data at the chosen error correction level |
| Error correction raised | Unless the level is fixed, the encoder may raise the error correction level when the chosen symbol has room for it |
| Capacity in this generator | M4 with error correction L: 35 digits or 21 capital letters and digits |
| Standards | ISO/IEC 18004 and JIS X 0510 |
| Where the numbers come from | Your own data |

Micro QR Code vs QR Code
Micro QR is a smaller variant of QR Code for very small spaces and short data.
| Property | Micro QR Code | QR Code |
|---|---|---|
| Smallest symbol | 11 × 11 modules (M1) | 21 × 21 modules |
| Largest symbol | 17 × 17 modules (M4) | 177 × 177 modules |
| Most digits | 35 | 7,089 |
| Error correction | L, M or Q (by version) | L, M, Q or H |
When to Choose Micro QR
Choose Micro QR when the space is very small and the data is short, such as a part number. For web addresses and anything longer, use QR Code.

Scanning Micro QR Codes
Check that the scanner or app you rely on reads Micro QR before printing, because support varies between readers.
Testing Your Code
Print a test copy at the final size and scan it with the device that will be used. The Barcode.codes scanner and image reader read Micro QR in the browser.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is This Micro QR Code Generator Free?
Yes. There is no account, watermark or download limit, and the codes may be used commercially.
How Much Data Fits in a Micro QR Code?
Up to 35 digits or 21 capital letters and digits in version M4 with error correction L. Other text fits fewer characters; the capacity line shows the limit for your data.
Why Does M1 Reject My Letters?
Version M1 holds digits only, and M2 holds digits, capital letters and a few symbols. Choose M3 or M4, or keep Smallest that fits.
What Is the Smallest Micro QR Code?
Version M1, with 11 × 11 modules plus a quiet zone. Its printed size depends on the X-dimension you set.
Can I Put a Web Address in a Micro QR Code?
Only a very short one: lowercase letters and symbols fit few characters. A QR Code is the better choice for web addresses.
Does Every Phone Read Micro QR Codes?
Not necessarily: support depends on the scanning app. Test with the devices your readers will use.
