      The code holds the address as plain text, and phones recognize text starting with https:// as a link.

      Shorter Links Make Smaller Codes

      Every character adds to the code, so a long address with tracking parameters makes a denser code. Remove what the link does not need, or link to a short page on your own site.

      Opening the Link

      On an iPhone, the Camera app reads QR codes: hold it over the code and tap the notification that appears. Control Center also has a Code Scanner. Other phones and scanner apps differ, so test the code with the ones your visitors use.

      Common URL QR Code Mistakes

      Most link codes fail because of the address, not the code itself.

      Check Before Printing

      • Typos: a single wrong character leads to the wrong page; scan a test print.
      • Temporary links: a link that later stops working breaks every printed code.
      • http instead of https: use the secure address when your site has one.

      No. The code holds the link itself, so it works as long as the page at that address exists.

      Any web address starting with https:// or http://. The generator refuses other kinds of links, such as javascript: links.

      Why Is My Link QR Code Dense?

      Long links need more modules. Shorten the address or remove parameters it does not need.

      Is It Free to Make a Link QR Code?

      Yes. There is no account, watermark or download limit.

      Will the Code Show My Link Before Opening It?

      That depends on the phone: the iPhone Camera shows a notification you tap first. Other apps differ, so test with the ones your visitors use.
